Places to Visit in Palawan (Part 2)

Ugong Rock Formation

On our third day, before heading to the Underground River, we had plenty of time to spare because our scheduled underground tour was at 1pm in the afternoon. So to make good use of the time, we went to the Ugong Rock Formation. It is a 75-ft limestone formation located at the Brgy. Tagabinet, Puerto Princesa City.  And they called it ugong because the rock produces an echoing sound  similar to the of a bell when pounded. The rock formations are indeed marvelous, and this very same cave also connects to the cave that was on the Underground River, so yeah, there are also stalagmites and stalactites in it.

We enjoyed their Spelunking(another term for cave climbing) as we braved our way on climbing to reach the top. After the climb, we scaled up on to the top of the cave and went on zip lining. The 21 seconds zipline was not that extreme but enough to blow our stress away! It was indeed a time well spent at Ugong Rock Formation.

And your eyes will surely feast on the green scenery there
Some Info: Ugong Rock Cave is a community-based sustainable tourism project initiated by ABS-CBN Foundation-Bantay Kalikasan in partnership with the City of Puerto Princesa and the Department of Tourism with the support of Pasyar-PNNI, PCC, City Tourism Council, Barangay Council and IDEAS. Underground River

On the third day of our trip was the much awaited Underground River tour. Even if the river was not clear that day, the stalagmites and stalactites formations were enough to blow you away. And even if itโ€™s hard to see through the darkness, just a glimpse of it was enough to make you believe that it is indeed a wonder how all these formations came into life. The Cathedral part of the cave, the Bethlehem, the candle, the image of San Roque and a lot of formations that would truly bring you in awe.

Mitras Ranch

On our last day in Palawan we went on to Mitras Ranch for some view hopping and the unexpected trampoline experience. You can see the view of Puerto Princesa city proper with some outdoor activities like horseback riding, trampoline, zip line and a lot more. Obviously we tried their Trampoline as the idea of jumping and bouncing was just too enticing to resist.

I think the pictures are enough to tell you how much we have enjoyed the experience. That was a helluva sweat, laughter, bouncing and everything else you can say about our shots. Hahaha

Bakers Hill

Bakers Hill and Mitras Ranch are just some meters away from each other. Bakerโ€™s Hill is where you can buy Puerto Princesaโ€™s delicacies and products. They have hopia, tarts, breads and a whole lot of other pasalubong products. They also have nice and stylish houses, plus some statue of Manilyn Monroe and Disney characters.

So that was more or less the places we’ve been to in Puerto Princesa Palawan. Watch out for my next post about some of their famous restos, the hotel we stayed in and a lot of tidbits here and there.
